The main challenges that India is face with today are mass poverty and unemployment. Lack of appropriate housing is perhaps the most serious manifestation of mass poverty. India is producing only 2 dwelling units per thousand populations in urban areas and an average of 0.4 dwelling unit in the rural areas of 10 developing units as per UN recommendation. Evidently the gulf between the housing demand and its availability is not only substantial but is widening continuously.
The Company has demonstrated low cost housing technologies in various parts of District Mandi, Bilaspur and Spiti valley. In this context the Company was also identified as one of the centers of HUDCO for propagating building technology. It has also provided Mud Block and Concrete Block making Machines to rural populations and has demonstrated low cost housing technology to the people of Kinnaur, Bilaspur and Mandi districts to encourage people for constructing houses at extremely economic costs.

In order to construct earthquake resistant and cost effective buildings, the Sai Eternal Foundation constructed 24 flats under innovative low cost housing scheme at Mehli, Shimla. It was demonstrated through this project that buildings with adequate space can be constructed at a reasonable cost and possibility of exploitation by the builders can be mitigated to a considerable extent. The Company has provided these flats on cost to cost basis, thus demonstrating cost effectiveness and maintaining quality aspect of designing and constructing safe buildings. The Company plans to work in this field to mitigate the housing crisis. In Shimla there is shortage of housing in Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Low Income Group (LIG), Medium Income Group (MIG) and other categories. The shortage is increasing every year. The Company intends to provide housing to the people at very reasonable rates.
